Overland Park, KS - Jasmin Talbert has accepted the Libertarian Party's nomination to run for Kansas House of Representatives, 19th District.
Candidate Bio  

Jasmin Talbert was born on Bitburg Air Force Base in Bitburg Germany, while both parents were serving in the military.  Currently she lives in Overland Park where she has resided for 26 years.  Jasmin graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School and then received her B.S. in Geophysics from the University of Kansas.


Currently Jasmin works as a hydrogeologist for QSSI, a small consulting firm based out of Perry, KS.  When not working Jasmin enjoys spending time with her daughter who plays premier soccer for the FC Rangers.
Political Stance  
Jasmin intends to focus on the following priorities during her campaign.
  • Continue efforts to pass a constitutional amendment preventing eminent domain abuse. Jasmin strongly supports HCR 5025, a firm resolution to protect private property owner's rights.
  • Introducing legislation to allow Kansas to opt out of "No Child Left Behind" and give back control of its public schools to Kansans.
  • Introducing legislation to eliminate the sales tax on food products. This is a regressive tax on the poor and elderly, and the income tax rebate intended to offset the tax is ineffective.

 
Why vote for Jasmin  

 In recent elections voter turn out has been pathetically low.  Perhaps this is due to the fact people can't seem to agree with either side so figure why bother.  Both Democrats and Republicans have moved to opposite extremes leaving those of us in the middle with no choice.  This was evident in 1971, when disillusioned Republicans and Democrats founded the Libertarian party to uphold civil liberties and small government. 

YOU should tell the government what you want and not the other way around.  You have a right to take home what you earned, keep your property and have a say in your childs schooling. 

Jasmin believes that people interacting through communication, mutual respect, tolerance and a free market are the best artisans of their society.  Small non-intrusive governments create the environment for cooperation, tolerance and better communication enhancing society with civil liberties and economically.   If you agree, please vote for Jasmin Talbert November of 2006.
